The purpose of endodontics (commonly called root canal therapy and other endodontic procedures) is to eliminate toothaches while maintaining the function of a tooth. In the past, dentists had to remove any teeth with diseased nerves. Modern dental techniques allow us to save the natural tooth in most cases, which is almost always preferable to replacing the tooth with a prosthetic or leaving open spaces in the bite.

DR. ANDERSON’S EXPERIENCE WITH ENDODONTICS
Few things seem to be worse than experiencing a toothache. We enjoy being able to remove this terrible pain from our clients while allowing them to retain the ability to chew and function with their teeth.
Dr. Anderson received additional dental training in endodontics after dental school and has been performing simple and complex procedures to solve problems of the inner tooth, including root canals, for over 10 years.

Purpose of Treatment
Dr. Anderson will extract the inner infected nerve tissue, clean and shape the canal the nerve was in, then seal that space with a biocompatible (i.e., safe for the body) material before finally restoring the tooth with a crown to restore functionality and strength to the damaged tooth.
