HOW DO DENTURES WORK?

If you live with tooth loss, dentures may be the solution for you. Dentures are removable prosthetic devices that replace the function and appearance of your teeth. They are a reliable and affordable tooth loss solution for patients suffering from partial or full mouth tooth loss.

However, dentures aren’t just for older patients. Advancements in dental materials and technology make dentures a great tooth loss treatment for patients of all ages and stages of care.

Dentures are made from durable and naturally-looking acrylic resin. They consist of two parts: a gum-colored base and prosthetic teeth. Dentures are custom-fitted to fit comfortably over your gums and alveolar ridges (the bones on the top and bottom jaws). Once placed in your mouth, dentures look and function like natural teeth to give you back your smile.

What are Implant-Supported Dentures?

Patients interested in a stable and permanent tooth loss solution may benefit from implant-supported dentures. Also called fixed dentures, implant-supported dentures use a series of dental implants to anchor the overdenture to the jawbone. This requires a minor surgical procedure to screw the implants into the patient’s jaw.

Unlike removable dentures, implant-supported dentures are the only type of denture that helps restore the bone tissue lost once teeth have been lost or removed. Implants are made from biocompatible titanium and fuse to the natural jawbone, stimulating tissue growth and preserving the shape and health of the jaw.

How Much Do Dentures Cost?

Whether you choose traditional or implant-supported dentures, they are an important investment in your oral health. The total cost of your care will depend on your unique treatment needs, as well as which type of denture is right for you. Some dental insurance plans may cover a portion of your dentures, and our practice is in-network with most major insurance providers. We will help you to understand and maximize your insurance benefits.
