WHAT IS A DENTAL CROWN?

Does your smile suffer from a chipped, broken, worn down, or stained tooth? Then you may benefit from a dental crown. A crown is a sturdy, durable cap that fits over the natural tooth structure. Dr. Anderson uses porcelain crowns to fully restore the look, strength, and function of damaged or discolored teeth. Crowns are also used in implant dentistry to help replace missing teeth.

What is a CEREC Same-day Crown?

CEREC uses CAD/CAM technology to create dental restorations in just one visit. CAD/CAM technology in dentistry has been around for roughly 30 years. Dr. Anderson has been an early adopter of this incredible technology for the last 10 years. CAD/CAM technology allows our team to provide an incredibly precise, strong, and beautiful porcelain crown or partial crown on the same day.

With CEREC crowns, we have eliminated the messy impressions, annoying temporary crowns, and two- to three-week wait that these restorations used to require. Now it only takes about two hours to get your smile back!

What is a Dental Bridge?

The loss of one or more teeth impacts not only your smile, but it can have lasting consequences for your oral health. If you are living with an incomplete smile, you may benefit from a dental bridge. A bridge consists of one or more crowns anchored to the surrounding teeth and used to fill the gap left by tooth loss.

You may also be a good candidate for a dental bridge if you have suffered tooth loss but do not have the jaw tissue needed for a dental implant.

What are the Benefits of Crowns and Bridges?

A dental crown can restore the function of a tooth and preserve your overall oral health. Besides restoring a damaged tooth, a dental crown can strengthen a weakened tooth to keep it from fracturing. Crowns are also used in implant dentistry to help replace missing teeth.

A dental bridge helps prevent your surrounding teeth from shifting out of alignment, preserving the look of your smile. It can also redistribute proper bite forces and maintain the health of your bite and jaw. This can prevent conditions such as gum disease, TMJ, and tooth decay.

How Long Do Crowns and Bridges Last?

The lifetime of your dental restoration depends on how well you take care of it. With good at-home care and oral hygiene, your dental crown or bridge can last up to 15 years. Be sure to schedule regular dental checkups. Dr. Anderson will check the condition of your restoration and recommend repair or replacement if needed.
